Humiliation in the form of a heavy sphere

Kath and I took the kids bowling in Caz on Sunday.

I was the victor in our first game, scoring just proud of the 100 mark. The second game, however, was a different story. Some highlights:

Thomas led through the first 9 frames. He was the only one of the four of us with a strike in the first nine frames. Our combined total number of spares: 7. Yes, that’s for all four of us.

Daniel managed to bowl the only other strike of the game in the tenth frame, eking out a one point victory over Thomas. The final score:

Daniel: 91
Thomas: 90
John: 84
Kath: 49

One neat feature at this bowling alley: The electronic scoring system allows you to program which bowlers need bumpers. When it’s that bowler’s turn, the bumpers automatically deploy out of grooves along the inside edge of the gutter. The bumpers then automatically retract before the next non-bumper-using bowler goes.

Maybe next time Kath and I should use bumpers…
